Wild Wonders Tours
Garden Route

The Garden Route (Afrikaans: Tuinroete) is a 450 kilometre (280 mi) stretch of the south-western coast of South Africa which extends from Mossel Bay in the Western Cape to the Storms River in the Eastern Cape. The name comes from the verdant and ecologically diverse vegetation encountered here and the numerous lagoons and lakes dotted along the coast. With its mild oceanic climate and beautiful scenery, it is one of South Africa's top tourist destinations.

We have combined sight-seeing in Cape Town with a trip through the Garden Route as we strongly believe that one can not do the one without the other. We have packed 8 days full of activities that will leave you wanting more. Personal comfort and safety on all excursions is our top priority and we will make sure that you leave with memories that will be cherished forever.

Day 1

Upon your arrival in Cape Town International Airport you will be collected by one of our tour guides and taken to your hotel in the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. There are many 4 or 5 star hotels to choose from in the City Centre or in the Waterfront itself. Since you have been flying, this will be a day to relax. You can walk around the waterfront and have a relaxing lunch or dinner at one of the many restaurants in the area. Visit www.waterfront.co.za for more information.

Day 2

After breakfast you will be collected from your hotel and we will start our trip with a visit to Table Mountain where we will be using the cable car to travel to the top and back. From here we will travel to Camps Bay beach, popular with the rich and famous, after which we will be visiting Marina's Wharf in Hout Bay where you will have an option to take a ferry to Seal Island (named after the 5000 + seals occupying the small island). We will then drive via Chapman's Peak (famous for its scenic vistas)to Cape Point, the Southern-most point in the area. From here we will visiting Boulders Beach near Simon's Town (home to the oldest Naval base in South Africa) where we will be visiting the African Penguin colony. Next we will travel to Muizenberg beach (popular with surfers) and historically known for the battle of Muizenburg in 1700. Our last leg of the tour will be past famous landmarks like the Groote Schuur Hospital where the very first heart transplant was performed by Prof Christiaan Barnard.

Day 3

We will travel to our famous wine region where we will be visiting 3 of our 7 wine regions. We will taste wines from the Paarl, Stellenbosch and Franshoek regions and you will have the opportunity to taste some of our local goat's cheeses, chocolates and beer. Visit www.spiceroute.co.za for more information.
*OPTIONAL* Automobile enthusiasts will also have the opportunity to visit the biggest private collections of vintage cars in South Africa. Visit www.fmm.co.za for more information.
Another exciting attraction is the cheetah farm where one can interact and touch these beautiful animals (and of course get a selfie with one of them). We will end our day by visiting the Franschhoek village to stretch the legs and shop. On our way back we will make a final call at more, famous wine estates.

Day 4 & 5

After breakfast, please have your baggage ready to be collected as we will leave Cape Town to travel along our very famous Garden Route. This is a picturesque route along our India Ocean coastline, scattered with many small towns along the way, offering you plenty of stops for taking photos and enjoying the fresh air. Our first destination is the popular tourist town of Knysna, where we will stay for 2 nights. Here you will be allowed to visit many historical sites as well shop and visit the waterfront. We recommend eating at 34 Degrees South and visiting www.knysna.org to research more tourist attractions. You will also have the opportunity to see the famous Knysna elephants, which is a wonderful experience as one can interact with these statuesque creatures. Please visit www.knysnaelephantpark.co.za for more information.
During our time here, we will visit Plettenberg Bay where you will be able to enjoy the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.
Accommodation here will be in the form of a 4 star B&B.

Day 6

The next day, we will be leaving Knysna for Oudtshoorn. Oudtshoorn is known for its ostrich farming industry and you will have a chance to ride one of these magnificent birds. Other popular tourist attractions are the famous and spectacular Cango Caves and several game farms in the area. Accommodation will be provided on a lovely olive farm, the Surval Boutique Olive Estate.
*OPTIONAL* Also visit www.meerkat.com as there may be time to sqeeze in a visit to a Meerkat gang.

Day 7

The road back will be via Route 62, the longest wine route in the world. We will be stopping at various wine estates on our way back to Cape Town.
