Wild Wonders Tours
Wine & Whale Tour
Our favourite wine tasting region is called "Hemel en Aarde" (Heaven and Earth), which is situated in the Overberg, famous for the first ever Pinot Noir cultivated outside Cape Town.
We will be travelling through spectacular mountain ranges and tasting the best Pinot Noir at some of the most famous wine estates in the area.
Our destination is the coastal town of Hermanus where whales frolick just off the shore. This natural bay is ideal for whales to give birth to their calves and whale watching has become one of the main attractions in the area.
Cost per person: $ 200 | Euro 185
FreeCurrencyRates.comItinerary:
We will collect you at your place of accommodation in Cape Town at 08:00 AM. From there we will travel on the N2, via the Sir Lowry Pass, leading to the Grabouw/Elgin region (known as the biggest apple growing region in South Africa).
From here we drive towards Caledon where we will visit Dassiesfontein (my favourite general dealer) for a cup of coffee and to browse around. Caledon and the surrounding area are known for their large wheat farming community.
Our next stop will be on some of the many wine estates in the Hemel & Aarde district. Here you can taste our award winning Pinot cultivars as well as many other locally produced wines.
We will arrive in Hermanus in time for lunch and you will have the opportunity to walk around the bay area to shop and of course watch some whales. Whale watching is seasonal and very popular and we advise that you book well in advance for this excursion.
Our return trip will take us via Clarence Drive (one of the most scenic drives in the Western Cape), overlooking False Bay.
Arrival time in Cape Town will be around 18:00 Hrs.
